THE DIGITAL SISTERHOOD  + HAKIMA GRADUATION | 3:30-6pm

The second part of the Summit we will all gather together for our Hakima Training Program Graduation to celebrate the commitment of the women who have completed four units.  We'll conclude the day in conversation  with our very special guest, Cadar Mohamud, founder and host of The Digital Sisterhood podcast to understand the ways we can help women feel heard and supported by creating space for them to share their stories.

THIS EVENT IS FOR WOMEN ONLY.  To create a space where women can focus on themselves, be brave, and vulnerable, we want to remind you that the sessions and conversations are not meant for young ears.  Additionally, the venue is full of art and is not meant for small children.

We also understand that we sometimes do not have caregiving help as women.  We are gathering a list of potential babysitters for you to explore your options (we don't endorse any of them and will leave it to you to conduct your research). If you are a babysitter or know a babysitter, please submit this form.  For information about the list, email Amani at directory@mwo-orlando.org.  Finally, if you are breastfeeding your child or are unable to leave your littlest ones home, you can bring them in their strollers and we have a designated space for you to care for their needs yourself throughout the day.

VENUE: Eola View

This year’s Summit is taking place at the beautiful Eola View venue in the heart of Central Florida. We will be spending the day surrounded by light and warmth! Complimentary valet parking will be provided to all attendees.

About the Summit

As women, we spend our lives caring for everyone around us, but do we care for our own wellness? When we experience challenges in life, women need to know they are not alone, and they can turn to someone who understands what they are going through and will respond with compassion and empathy. At this year’s Summit, we will focus on how we can come together as women, and as a community, to provide support and healing through community care. We know we cannot create a perfect world or community, but by coming together, we can create a community where women rise stronger and are not alone on their journeys.

This year’s Summit theme, therefore, focuses on holistic health and wellbeing, with the following outcomes:

  1. Increased recognition and acknowledgement of the common struggles Muslim women experience. This includes mental illness, social isolation, physical illnesses, caregiving burnout, and spiritual crises.

  2. Increased connections to other women who have been through similar experiences. This will be through facilitated conversations and circles of support where women can share stories and learn from others’ experiences.

  3. Increased awareness about different types of resources available within and outside the local Muslim community of Central Florida. This will be through our 2nd Annual Muslim Women’s Expo hosted on-site throughout the event.

  4. Decreased feelings of loneliness. Women will leave the summit knowing individuals and organizations that can be with them moving forward.

PARTNER WITH US!

We believe that our community needs to come together to create the change we hope to see; none of us can do it alone. It requires recognizing and supporting the individuals and institutions that have been saving the lives of women in our own community. It also requires investment from generous funders and community partners who are aligned with our vision of a community where all women are safe and healthy. Regardless of whether you are a business owner, a foundation, a service provider, a professional, or a nonprofit organization, you have the opportunity to invest and engage in the Muslim Women’s Summit in meaningful ways.
