Empower Together Networking

We are looking for Muslim women who want to uplift one another, excel in their careers and organizations, and share their professional expertise. We believe building these connections is especially important at a time when many Muslim women are facing discrimination and silencing in our workplaces. If this sounds like you, please join us for an afternoon of networking and conversation!

We’ll meet at The Hub and share about our professional endeavors. This will be a public speaking exercise and you’ll receive feedback. If you’d like to include a 1-3 slide presentation along to accompany your 3-5 minute introduction, please email info@mwo-orlando.org

This month we'll explore the experiences of Americans coming from unique and often contested backgrounds: Arab-American and Asian-American Muslims. While both terms are frequently used and even receive their own heritage celebration months (April is Arab-American Heritage Month and May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month) both terms are ambiguous and create groups that often lack cohesion.

Happy Mother’s Day

Abu Huraira reported that a person came to Allah's Messenger (PBUH) and said : Who among the people is most deserving of fine treatment from my hand ? He said : Your mother. The man again said : Then who (is the next one) ? The Prophet (PBUH) said: Again it is your mother (who deserves the best treatment from you). The man said: Then who (is the next one) ? The Prophet (PBUH) said : Again, it is your mother. The man (again) said: Then who? Thereupon the Prophet (PBUH) said: Then it is your father.

This month we'll examine the rich history and contributions made by Black Muslims. We'll also specifically consider the African-American Muslim experience, including the histories that are often left untold, figures who are sometimes ignored, and the complexities that come from the intersectionalities of faith, race, culture, and systemic anti-Black racism and anti-Muslim sentiments.
